Services

The CINJ – Transcriptional Profiling Facility supports two microarray formats: cDNA arrays of probes printed in-house on glass slides and oligonucleotide arrays synthesized by Affymetrix, Inc.

The facility offers a full service cDNA microarray analysis including hybridization, staining and scanning using a GeneMachines Omnigrid Arrayer and an Axon 4000B Scanner for spotting and scanning custom microarray slides. We also offer these services on an “ala carte” basis.

Our facility also uses Affymetrix GeneChip technology to perform full service global gene expression studies. This system hybridizes fluorescently labeled cRNA to oligo-spotted microarrays and features a 640 Hybridization Oven, Fluidics Station 450 and an Affymetrix GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G. Expression arrays are available for gene sets from human, rat, mouse, Arabidopsis, Drosophila, yeast, E. coli and other organisms. A complete overview of the GeneChip technology can be found at

For both microarray platforms, we offer these services on an “ala carte” basis.

In addition, we offer an RNA Analysis service. Using a 2100 Bioanalyzer from Agilent Technologies, we can determine the quality and quantity of starting RNA used in expression studies. We also offer high-throughput pipetting using a Beckman Coulter Biomek FX Liquid Handling Workstation.

Most recently, we added an RNA Extraction service to aid researchers in their studies.  We can effectively extract high quality total RNA from tissue samples as well as those originating from cell culture.
