Marvin Karno, M.D., is Professor of Psychiatry Emeritus with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is a third generation native of Los Angeles, and married 50 years to Adriana Gutierrez, with whom he has been blessed with four children and eight grandchildren. He received his B.A. (anthropology), M.D., and Psychiatric Residency Training at UCLA. His career has blended interest and activity in community psychiatry, cross- cultural and epidemiological research, with a particular focus on the Los Angeles Hispanic community, as well as teaching and academic administration. He is a Founding Board Member of The Foundation for Psycho-cultural Research.
