Dr.
Kostis is the recipient of the American Heart Association's New
Jersey Distinguished Leadership in Research Award, the Melvyn H.
Motolinsky Research Foundation Distinguished Service Award, and
the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Award of Honor. He was
also honored as a Distinguished Physician by the Hellenic Medical
Society of New York. Dr. Kostis has been named one of "The
Best Doctors in the U.S. " by the American Health Magazine
and a "Top Doctor" in the New York City area by New
York magazine, in addition to being included in Who's
Who in Science and Engineering.
The
recipient of more than $30 million in research grants, Dr. Kostis
is a member of learned societies including the Association of Professors
of Medicine, the Association of University Cardiologists, the Council
on Clinical Cardiology, the Council on Hypertension of the American
Heart Association, and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical
Graduates (ECFMG). He is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology
and the American College of Chest Physicians and has lectured by
invitation at plenary sessions of the American Heart Association,
the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Hypertension.
Dr.
Kostis has lectured by invitation at medical schools and international
meetings in the United States and over 40 countries in North and
South America, Europe, Asia and Africa . He has served on the editorial
boards of many scientific journals and has held leadership positions
in the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Hypertension,
the American Heart Association, and the New Jersey Department of
Health and Senior Services. Dr. Kostis serves on the Board of the
ECFMG and is the President-Elect of the Northeast Lipid Association.
