DNA FRAGMENT ANALYSIS GUIDELINES

• Each sample can contain multiple PCR products or varying sized fragments labeled with three or four dyes with up to 1000 bases in length. The system is currently optimized for three dyes and fragments sized 50 to 500 bases. The system is currently set to use VIC, NED, and FAM labeled primers.
• Discounts are available for the 200mM scale labeled oligos needed for PCR. Please contact the DNA lab, we can obtain a minimum of 5% off the normal additional charge for FAM, TET and HEX. Other dyes are also available. HPLC purification is optional.
• Your lab is responsible for performing the PCR with the labeled oligos and pooling the samples to obtain the proper ratios for multiple analyses per well. We will add the formamide and size standards (see below).
• We have the ROX labeled molecular weight standards for the 50 - 500 bp range. The use of this dye as the standard means your custom labeled oligos can be made with the cheapest dyes: FAM, HEX, NED, and VIC. In the future if you need another standard, such as for up to 1000 bases, you will need to inform the Core Facility.
• We run samples in multiples of 16. You will be charged for a minimum of 15 samples (one is reserved for the no DNA control). All samples in excess of 15 will be charged in multiples of 16.
