REAL-TIME PCR
The DNA Core runs an ABI 7900HT Real-Time PCR System
This System can accommodate any real-time PCR application. This new high-throughput system contains robotics enabling multiple 384 or 96 well plates to be loaded automatically. Continuous wavelength detection from 500-660 nm allows the use of multiple fluorophores in a single reaction. The software is designed to perform all necessary calculations including dissociation curve analysis, absolute quantitation, and relative quantitation using standard curve or comparative CT algorithms.
POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Allelic Discrimination:SNP Analysis using fluorescent 5' nuclease assay
- Measurement of gene expression levels (gene expression quantitation)
- Quantitative PCR
- Array Verification
- Gene Expression
- Analysis of mRNA Expression
- Mutation Detection

In order to facilitate easier scheduling for all users, please call the DNA Core at 732-235-4934 to make an appointment to drop off your PCR samples. Plates must be dropped off by 1:00 pm to be run that day. Plates dropped off later in the day may be held over for the next business day.
CHARGES:
$10.00 per plate for CINJ members
$25.00 per plate UMDNJ or Rutgers
Please stop by or call the Core for details and assistance in setting up your experiments. We can help you with your assay design, and assist you with using ABI's File Builder or Primer Express softwares.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008 The DNA Core will no longer be giving out free 96 or 384 well PCR plates and sealing film for your experiments. Although, our Real -Time PCR Machine can utilize most brands of plastics, please be advised that the machine is calibrated only for ABI PRISM 96-Well Optical Reaction Plate with Barcode (code128), the ABI MicroAmp™ Optical 384-Well Reaction Plate with Barcode and the ABI MicroAmp™ Optical Adhesive Film. We cannot guarantee accurate results, nor is technical support supported by Applied Biosystems with any other brand of PCR plastics. For your convenience these plates and films are available for purchase through Applied Biosystems directly or through the DNA Core Facility’s ABI Freezer Program at a discounted rate. We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. |
