MAC SEQUENCE PROGRAM DOWNLOADS

Since the sequencer platform is PC, the waveform files emailed to you need to be converted to MAC format for some viewing programs. You will need the free ABI conversion utility software.

EDIT VIEW SOFTWARE WEBSITE

You can download free Edit View 1.0.1 software from the above Applied Biosystems webpage. For “Select Product Software” pick “ABI Prism 3100 Genetic Analyzer”. Hit “enter” (don’t worry about option #2 asking you to pick software type). On the right side “Software Utilities” will pop up. Press “Edit View 1.0.1” and download that. This should enable you to view, edit, print, and save your waveforms.

CONVERSION SOFTWARE FOR MAC EDIT VIEW USERS WEBSITE

To use the conversion utility:

The emailed waveforms need to be downloaded to your computer in a folder to be recognized by the software. You open the conversion software ("sample file win to mac"). Locate the folder containing the files you want to read. SINGLE click on that folder (DO NOT OPEN THE FOLDER). Then press the "choose" button. Your files should now be in the format you are familiar with for viewing.

4Peaks is a program that enables you to to visualize and edit your DNA sequence files on the MacOSX platform. Also, 4Peaks supports most commonly used sequence file formats right out of the box, you do not have to convert them.
