Message from the Vice
Chair
 Welcome
to the Department of Emergency Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical
School New Brunswick Campus web page. While this department academically
reports to Dr. Michael Chansky at the UMDNJ-RWJMS Camden Campus,
its clinical and administrative functions are located entirely at
the New Brunswick Campus.
This site for the Department
of Emergency Medicine at UMDNJ-RWJMS started in July 2005. We provide
physician coverage for the Emergency Department at Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital (RWJUH)
7 days a week /24 hours a day/ 365 days a year.
We see over
58,000 patients a year at RWJUH. Our team of providers consists
of Board Certified (94% as of 2008) or Board Eligible physicians
in Emergency Medicine, an EMS Fellow, Physician Assistants and Data
Control Clerks. Our administrative staff ensures that the department
functions efficiently.
Our future initiatives include:
- Implement a Chest Pain Observation Unit
- Submit a request to start our own residency program
- Implement an Emergency based Ultrasound Program
As
of July, 2006 we now have a dedicated physician in the non-urgent
care area at RWJUH to provide you with more efficient and rapid
care.
