Sports Medicine Fellowship
The Sports Medicine Fellowship at UMDNJ-RWJMS is a fully accredited program that includes a wide variety of sports medicine experiences: high school and college sports; mass participation sports events; and numerous outpatient sports medicine clinics. Fellows work with two major universities, Rutgers and Princeton. The sports medicine fellow will have a unique opportunity to work with nationally recognized leaders in the field. The fellow will work closely with University Orthopaedics, a multi-specialty orthopaedic group. Upon completion of training, fellows are eligible to sit for a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine.
The goal of the fellowship is to provide specialized training in sports medicine and exercise related injuries to Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Physicians. The fellow will act as a role model and mentor to other primary care providers. Lectures in a variety of settings will be given to medical residents, students, athletes and others in health care to stimulate more knowledge and enthusiasm in the field. Fellows trained in this setting will be prepared to pursue various career paths in primary care sports medicine.
