Professional Staff

Beatrix Roemheld-Hamm, MD, PhD , is the Medical Director of the Studio for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Roemheld-Hamm attended medical school at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and completed a Family Medicine residency at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She obtained her PhD in Internal Medicine in 1989. She is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at UMDNJ- Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Board-certified in family medicine, she is a practicing Family Physician and teaches botanical medicine to medical and nurse practitioner students, residents, physicians, nurses and nurse practitioners. She is a co-chair of Society of Teachers of Family Medicine's group on alternative (integrative) medicine and a member of UMDNJ's Institute for Complementary and Integrative Medicine (ICAM). 

Karen Wei-Ru Lin, MD , an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, is a board certified family physician and Assistant Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program. She received her BS degree from National Taiwan University, an MS degree in Environmental Science from Rutgers University, and her MD from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Lin also heads the Chinese American Medicine Initiative and sits on the Committee for the Center for Alternative and Complementary Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She is trained in medical acupuncture and is a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

Dr. Xiao Huang earned her degree from the Hubei Chinese Traditional Medical College and served as an attending physician in China for 10 years. She is certified by the State of New Jersey to perform acupuncture and has been practicing acupuncture in this country for several years. Dr. Huang treats patients for chronic pain, weight loss, smoking cessation and a variety of other illnesses.

Paul Lehrer, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychiatry, UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and a member of the core faculty in clinical psychology at Rutgers University. He is a clinical psychologist and psychophysiologist specializing in, anxiety disorders, biofeedback, and behavioral medicine. He received his Ph.D. degree from Harvard University in 1969. He has published widely on biofeedback, relaxation therapies, and psychophysiological effects of stress, and is senior editor of a basic text in the field, Principles and Practice of Stress Management. Dr. Lehrer is immediate past president of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. For the past 20 years his research has specialized in the relationship among anxiety, heart rate variability, breathing, and the ways that people can control body rhythms to improve their health and well-being. He has applied these methods to treating asthma, hypertension, and anxiety disorders. He also has done extensive research on other relaxation and biofeedback methods.

Kim LeMoon CMT graduated as Academic and Technical Valedictorian from the Somerset School of Massage Therapy. She is certified by the Orthopedic Massage Education and Research Institute and is recognized as New Jersey's only advanced practitioner of Neuro-Structural Integration Technique (NST). She designed and taught the Anatomy program for the Soma Yoga Teacher Training. In private practice since 1997, Kim has developed a highly effective form of therapeutic massage. She blends keen assessment skills with cutting-edge techniques to ease chronic and acute pain, facilitate the healing of injuries, and provide on-going support for long-term conditions.

Marian R. Stuart, Ph.D. is Clinical Professor and Director of Behavioral Science in the Department of Family Medicine, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Stuart received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Summa Cum Laude, from Kean College in 1971. Her Masters Degree in 1973 and her Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology in 1975 are both from Rutgers University. Licensed by the Board of Psychological Examiners since 1976, she practices as a psychotherapist integrating dynamic techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy and a variety of body/mind practices designed to enhance the health and sense of well being of her patients. Principal author of The Fifteen Minute Hour: Practical Therapeutic Interventions in Primary Care, currently in 3rd Edition, she has presented internationally in areas of communications skills, mind-body medicine, geriatrics, family dynamics, stress management and medical education.
