Applying to Our Program
Our program is listed in the Match Book under the state listing as UMDNJ-RW Johnson/Piscataway, Family Medicine/B, Program C.
Our NRMP # is 291899. We are also listed under Specialty area: Family Medicine, New Jersey, UMDNJ-RWJ Piscataway, Code 291899, Type C, Quota 4.
We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). You may obtain application information from the Dean's Office at your medical school.
International medical graduates should contact the Education Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for application information.
Applicant must meet all criterion established by UMDNJ-RWJ Medical School as outlined in the GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION MANUAL SECTION I.1-IV.C found in the website www2.umdnj.edu/pgmeweb/Policy_Manual/.
Our criteria for application review is:
Pre Match
- Applications will be accepted only through ERAS.
- Applicants must have passing scores on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2.
- Prefer graduation within the past five years and clinical experience in a healthcare organization during the past twelve (12) months.
- Undergraduate education in the USA is highly desirable.
- For International Medical School graduates, we expect applicants to show evidence of recent work in the United States in medicine or in an academic program, e.g. MBA, MPH, MHA, PhD, MS, etc.
- Three letters are required. One should be from the medical school dean. The other two should be from faculty or physicians - one of whom is a Family Medicine physician.
- The submission deadline for applications is December 31st.
Post Match
- Paper applications will be accepted only in the ERAS format and must include a transcript from applicant's medical school as well as a personal statement.
- Applicants must have passing scores on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2.

- Undergraduate education in the USA is highly desirable.

We will have FOUR (4) PGY I positions open in July 2008. Interviews are usually conducted on Tuesdays, beginning in October through January.
Note: All applications are reviewed upon receipt through ERAS. Candidates who have been selected for an interview will receive a written invitation to schedule an interview. All other candidates are kept in an “On Hold” category. It is possible some candidates may be invited for an interview as we review this category periodically. Please do not call the program to check on the status of your application.
