CORE RESIDENCY FACULTY AND STAFF
Karen Wei-Ru Lin, MD, MS: Associate Professor; Residency Program Director. Dr. Lin has been a Faculty Member since 1992. She has received numerous awards, including 2007 NJ Family Physician of the Year, in recognition of her commitment to medical education, clinical care, and community. Dr. Lin also provides acupuncture and complementary medicine to both ambulatory and inpatients.
Barbara Jo McGarry, MD: Clinical Assistant Professor; Associate Residency Director. Dr. McGarry has been a Faculty Member since 1991. She chairs the curriculum committee, and teaches numerous didactic sessions including board review.
Jeffrey P. Levine, MD, MPH: Associate Professor; Assistant Residency Director; Director-Women's Health Programs. Dr. Levine has been a Faculty Member since 1996. Dr. Levine coordinates residency recruitment and the women's health curriculum. He is an inducted member of the UMDNJ Master Educators' Guild recognizing teaching excellence.
Beatrix Roemheld-Hamm, MD, PhD: Associate Professor; Residency Core Faculty. Dr. Hamm has been a Faculty Member since 1993. She coordinates the residency research curriculum and is a physician researcher.
Maria B. Pellerano, MA, MBA: Adjunct Instructor, Residency Coordinator. Maria has been with the Residency since 2004. Maria serves as the senior administrator for all residency related affairs, and she coordinates the residency's practice management curriculum.
Elizabeth C. Clark, MD, MPH: Assistant Professor; OB Rotation Coordinator. Dr. Clark will join our faculty in 2007. She is a physician researcher and coordinates the residency's OB.
Cathryn Heath, MD: Clinical Associate Professor; Medical Director-Family Medicine at Monument Square. Dr. Heath has been a Faculty Member since 1998. She directs the residency's ambulatory clinical site.
Marian R. Stuart, PhD: Clinical Professor; Director-Behavioral Science. Dr. Stuart has been a Faculty Member since 1983. She is the principal author of The Fifteen Minute Hour. Dr. Stuart is responsible for the behavioral science curriculum. She is an inducted member of the UMDNJ Master Educators' Guild.
Anu Kotay, MS: Clinical Instructor; Behavioral Science. Anu joined our faculty in 2007. She is actively involved with the behavioral science curriculum, and is certified in biofeedback.
ASSOCIATE RESIDENCY FACULTY
Joyce Afran, MD: Clinical Assistant Professor; Director of Predoctoral Education. Dr. Afran coordinates the UMDNJ-RWJMS Family Medicine 3rd Year Clerkship Rotation.
Benjamin F. Crabtree, PhD: Professor; Director - Research Division. He is world renowned for his research in primary care/health services and for his expertise in qualitative research.
Barbara DiCicco-Bloom, MA, PhD: Assistant Professor; Director - National Research Service Award Fellowship Program. She provides didactic residency research education and helps coordinate resident scholarly projects.
Jeanne Ferrante, MD: Associate Professor; Research Division. Dr. Ferrante is a physician researcher with interests in primary care aspects of cancer control.
John Heath, MD: Associate Professor; Co-Director - Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program. Dr. Heath conducts weekly Geriatric Rounds for geriatric fellows and family medicine residents.
David F. Howarth, MD, MPH: Associate Professor; Director - Fellowship Programs, Co-Director - Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program. Dr. Howarth provides geriatric curriculum for the residents.
Fred Kobylarz, MD, MPH: Associate Professor; Geriatric Medicine Faculty. Dr. Kobylarz provides geriatric curriculum for the residents.
Steven Levin, MD: Associate Professor; Medical Director - St. John's Family Health Center. Dr. Levin supervises residents during their Community Medicine rotation. Dr. Levin was the 2005 NJ Family Physician of the Year and the 2007 AAFP Family Physician of the Year.
Robert C. Like, MD, MS: Professor; Director - Center for Healthy Families & Cultural Diversity. Dr. Like is world renowned for his work in cultural competency and health professions education.
Michelle McWeeney, MS, PA-C: Assistant Professor. Ms. McWeeney provides women's health services at the St. John's Health Center.
Robert Monaco, MD, MPH: Clinical Assistant Professor; Assistant Athletic Director - Rutgers University; Director - Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. Dr. Monaco coordinates the residency's sports medicine curriculum.
Kinshasa Morton , MD : Instructor; Sports Medicine. Dr. Morton is the faculty for the sports medicine curriculum.
John Orzano, MD, MPH: Associate Professor. Dr. Orzano is a physician researcher.
John Scott, MD, PhD: Assistant Professor. Dr. Scott is a RWJ Faculty Scholar and physician researcher.
David E. Swee, MD: Professor; Associate Dean for Education, UMDNJ-RWJMS. Dr. Swee is the former Chair of our Department.
Alfred F. Tallia, MD, MPH: Professor and Department Chair; Director-Health Policy Fellowship. He is a member of the UMDNJ Master Educators' Guild and a physician researcher.
Justine P. Wu, MD, MPH; Clinical Assistant Professor, Director of the RHEDI Program (Reproductive Health and Education in Family Medicine). Dr Wu provides reproductive health training to the residents.
