THE FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM AT
ROBERT WOOD JOHNSON UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

The UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School 's Family Medicine Residency Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is New Jersey 's only urban, university hospital- based Family Medicine program. It builds on a 27 year tradition of community-oriented family medicine training.

Our program is a 4-4-4 academic focused, fellowship linked, community oriented Family Medicine Residency. It is designed to train future leaders in clinical care, community outreach, education and primary care practice-based research. Our program offers you:

Training for 21 st century medical practice, in a state-of-the-art ambulatory facility, which provides exceptional patient focused, family centered, culturally competent, community oriented, evidence-based clinical care.
Personal access to a large, renowned, and dedicated faculty in a stimulating learning community of current and future clinicians, educators and researchers, guided by Family Medicine core values to develop the family physician leaders of tomorrow.
Opportunities to work with national leaders in quality-of-care research to promote scholarship that aims at improving primary care and eliminating health care disparities.
Nationally recognized community outreach programs, which act through advocacy, policy implementation, and full participation in our society.
Individualized residency study tracks linked to outstanding fellowships in Geriatrics, Sports Medicines, Primary Care Research, Health Policy, Women's Health and Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

THE DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY MEDICINE

Text Box: The UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School 's Department of Family Medicine was founded in 1972 as one of the Country's first medical school-based Departments of Family Medicine. The Department has grown in size (over 80 faculty and staff), programs, and national reputation. With recognized expertise in clinical care, community service, medical education at predoctoral, residency, and postdoctoral levels, and an expanding track record in primary care/health services research, the Department serves as a resource for New Jersey and the nation.

UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) is one of eight schools of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, with campuses in New Brunswick, Piscataway and Camden. RWJMS is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education, research, health care delivery and the promotion of community health for the residents of New Jersey. With over 2,500 full-time and volunteer faculty, the medical school maintains educational programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels for more than 1,500 students, as well as continuing education courses for health care professionals and community education programs.

UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School sponsors 35 programs in graduate medical education, 17 residencies and 18 fellowships. RWJMS Residency and Fellowship programs are fully accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and provide a stimulating academic environment, which is ideal for the acquisition of the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to achieve the highest levels of professional and personal accomplishment.
