RUTGERS COURSE # 16:681:555
UMDNJ COURSE # MICRO 5009: 3 credits.

The class will be given in the spring semester of 2008 and will meet twice a week.

The emphasis of this course is on the molecular aspects of viral replication. Apart from two lectures devoted to plant viruses, the course will deal only with animal viruses, all of which are important causes of human disease. Representative RNA and DNA viruses will be discussed. There will also be lectures on viruses and tumorigenesis, viruses as vectors, host defenses against viral infection, the prevention of virus infections by vaccines, and antiviral chemotherapy.

Class time: 1:10 - 2:25 p.m.
