THE NEW BRUNSWICK AREA

New Brunswick, NJ is a vibrant college town of 49,000 about 40 miles south of New York City.Despite its small size, New Brunswick boasts exceptional cultural activities, many of which are held in conjunction with Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Directions to New Brunswick

New Brunswick is easily accessible from any of New Jersey's major roadways. You'll find detailed driving directions below. Located on the Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor Main Line, New Brunswick has frequent train service via New Jersey Transit from Philadelphia and New York City. New Brunswick's train and bus stations are located in the heart of our downtown at the intersection of Albany Street (Route 27) and Easton Avenue, one block from our medical center. 

From the Train Station (Amtrak and NJ Transit)

  • Descend by the main stairway to street level.
  • Turn left and cross Albany Street toward the Rutgers Bookstore and Marita’s Cantina restaurant.
  • Turn right and walk one block.
  • Cross the street.  Just before you go under the tracks, there will be a parking lot adjacent to the tracks.  Our department is in the four-story tan and white building (97 Paterson St.) at the left end of the lot.  The entrance is around the other side, on Paterson St.

From North or South via NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE

  • Exit Turnpike at Exit 9
  • Bear Right onto Route 18 North
  • On Route 18 stay in the left lane approximately 3 miles
  • Exit Route 18 at exit for 27 South
  • 5TH traffic light turn left onto Joyce Kilmer Ave
  • Our building is on the left, 97 Paterson Street, 2nd Floor

From ROUTE 18

  • Take Route 18 North thru East Brunswick to New Brunswick
  • Stay in the left lane at the junction with Route 1
  • Exit Route 18 at exit for 27 South
  • 5TH traffic light turn left onto Joyce Kilmer Ave
  • Our building is on the left, 97 Paterson Street, 2nd Floor

From West or North Jersey via ROUTE 287

  • Route 287 South
  • Exit Route 287 Easton Avenue at Exit #10(Formerly Exit #6)
  • Stay on Easton Avenue until it ends (7 miles)
  • Make a right onto Albany Street (Route 27)
  • 2nd traffic light turn left onto Joyce Kilmer Ave.
  • Our building is on the left, 97 Paterson Street, 2nd Floor

From North or South ROUTE 1

  • Exit Route 1 for Route 18 North
  • Stay on Route 18 for 2&1/2 miles
  • Exit Route 18 at exit for 27 South

  • Route 27 to New Brunswick
  • Route 27 becomes Albany Street once in New Brunswick

  • Route 130 North to Route 1 North
  • Exit Route 1 North to Route 18 North
  • Stay on Route 18 for 2 & 1/2 miles

From South via GARDEN STATE PARKWAY or ROUTE 9

  • Take Parkway or Route 9 North
