| Benefits: | This four day course includes lectures, demonstrations and hands-on
experience with microscopes and 'round robin' counting. Students completing the course
will become familiar with sampling and evaluation equipment in order to collect and
analyze dust samples with using professional techniques. Students work in teams of two during hands-on microscope exercises. The registration fee includes the shared use of a microscope for the duration of the course. Students may bring their own microscopes. The microscope will need a 40X phase contrast objective with condenser and a Walton-Beckett and graticule eye piece. Students must earn a passing grade of 70% or better on the examination to receive a certificate of course completion. The registration fee includes the following textbooks: Microscope Basics and Beyond and Contrast Methods in Microscopy Transmitted Lights. |
