This four and a half (4.5) hour program will provide physicians with a broad understanding of the information needed to properly administrate a hearing conservation program in an occupational health setting, review audiometric test results, and coordinate services with other professionals involved in the medical, legal, and safety/health fields.

Intended Audience: Physicians and medical directors in the occupational health fields.

  • OSHA Hearing Conservation requirements
  • NIOSH Recommended Standard
  • Audiogram Interpretation
  • AMA Medical Referral Guidelines
  • Coordinating medical and health/safety provisions of the OSHA regulations
  • Special consideration faced by outsourced health services such as test results reporting, meeting OSHA compliance needs, medical legal issues
  • Basic aspects of hearing protectors, types, specifications, and limitations of PPE
Other: UMDNJ-Centers for Continuing and Outreach Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UMDNJ- Center for Continuing and Outreach Education designates this educational activity up to 4.5 category 1 credits toward AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.
