ACCESS-MED

Access-Med is an articulated BA or BS/MD program between Rutgers University, Seton Hall University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) which consist of two phases: Phase I and II.

Phase I: Eligible Rutgers University and Seton Hall University undergraduate students receive academic support, counseling, MCAT preparation offered by their institutions as well as attend biannual medical conferences offered by UMDNJ-RWJMS. Please check with respective institutions for eligibility requirements.

Phase II: Students in Access Med Phase I who have demonstrated strong academic performance by their junior year of college and have met the requirements of their respective Phase I programs are invited to apply for phase II. Applicants accepted to phase II are offered a conditional acceptance to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) for a “transitional year”. During their senior/transitional year students, take selected first year medical school courses while completing their undergraduate requirements at Rutgers University . RWJMS courses count towards the BA or BS degree at either Rutgers or Seton Hall University . After successfully completing the transitional year and requirements of the Access Med Phase II program, participants may be offered admissions to UMDNJ-RWJMS as first year medical students. Access Med Phase II students have fewer required courses to take during their first year and more time to devote to remaining courses, thus easing the transition into medical school.
