ANNUAL PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT GRADUATION DINNER
|
Held on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, the annual departmental graduation dinner was preceded with a special guest lecture by Dr. William Hartmann, MD, Executive Vice President (emeritus), American Board of Pathology. Dr. Hartmann led a lively discussion on the Status of American Pathology from a springboard of notes and messages he has received in his years at the center of American Pathology. Dr. Hartmann's background includes professorships at John Hopkins, University of Tennessee, University of South Florida and his more than a decade as Professor of Pathology and Chairman of the Department of Pathology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

The purpose of this annual gathering is to acknowledge the accomplishments of our students from medical to departmental, from undergraduate to post-graduate.
Hosting the evening was Dr. Peter Amenta, Director of the Residency Program
and Chairman of the Department of Pathology.
Dr. Amenta singled out two of our departing residents, Deepti Dhall, our Chief
Resident and a graduate of Grant Medical college (Bombay, India) and
Hongling Wang, who graduated from China Medical University (Shenyang, Lianoning,
P.R. of China). In July, Dr. Dhall will begin a surgical pathology fellowship at
Memorial Sloan Kettering Medical Center in New York. Dr. Wang will begin a
fellowship in Cytopathology at Pennsylvania University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Acknowledging the top students in
Pathology in both the current medical school class and the physician's assistant
class has begun a traditiion at the annual dinner. The top student in each class
joined us for the evening.
