Research Interests: Cell migration is important to many crucial biological processes including embryogenesis, immune responses, wound healing and tumor cell metastasis. My research effort is dedicated toward investigating the role of the unique bifunctional ion channel TRPM7 in cell adhesion. We are currently examining how TRPM7 contributes to cancer cell proliferation, immune cell chemotaxis, and fibroblast locomotion. This laboratory uses multi-disciplinary approach to study the function of this unusual macromolecule. Among the many tools our laboratory employs are confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
