About the Graduate Program in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology

Pharmacology is often described as the science of "how little molecules do big things." It is a multidisciplinary science that uses the methods of chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, and physiology. We offer a Graduate Program in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology that spans two universities, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (RWJMS-UMDNJ). Our program is strongly research-oriented and the interests of our faculty are as diverse as the field itself.

The Graduate Program in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology offers a path of study leading to a Ph.D. degree. It also participates in the M.D./Ph.D. program at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In addition, the program offers general and specialized coursework in biological, chemical, computational and/or pharmaceutical subjects. The Director of the Graduate Program is Marc Gartenberg, Ph.D.

Most applications to the Graduate Program in Pharmacology Program are handled by the Rutgers/RWJMS Joint Program in Molecular Biosciences. See the admissions link for details.
