Welcome
to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Department of
Physiology and Biophysics Website. The department has research
strengths in cardiovascular & muscle research, endocrinology,
and cell physiology. Dr. Nicola C. Partridge has been chaired
since July 2000. Her goals are to develop the department
into a world-class center for modern physiological research
with particular emphases in endocrinology, cell physiology
and cardiovascular & muscle research. As part of this
program, she has recruited a considerable number of new
faculty whose research is relevant to these areas. The new
and existing faculty are using state-of-the-art molecular
biological and transgenic approaches to address physiological
questions. With the knowledge gained of the human genome,
this is a time for a resurgence in physiological research
to identify the organismal function of identified genes.
In addition to their world-class research, the faculty also
pride themselves on their medical and graduate school teaching.
Many changes in each of these have taken place. At present,
we teach Medical and Physician Assistant Physiology and
all the faculty participate in the Physiology and Integrative
Biology Graduate Program as well as many others at both
Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers University.
We welcome applications from persons interested in graduate
school and postdoctoral fellow positions.
