Patricia Whitley-Williams,
M.D.
Professor of Pediatrics
Dr.
Whitley-Williams has been Division Chief since 2003.
She is a liaison member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization
Practices at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention
and the National Network for Immunization Information
of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. In the
past she served as a member of the Advisory Committee
for the Elimination of Tuberculosis at the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention and National Vaccine Advisory
Committee of the Department of Health and Senior Services
as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee
on Pediatric AIDS. Dr. Whitley-Williams has participated
in the development of the national guidelines for the
reduction of perinatal HIV transmission as a member of
the Department of Health and Senior Services/Public Health
Service Perinatal HIV Guidelines Working Group. Her interests
include pediatric HIV infection/AIDS, tuberculosis in
children and childhood immunization.

Aswine K. Bal, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Bal is Chief of the Pediatric Infectious
Disease Service and Medical Director of the Pediatric
HIV Program at Jersey Shore University Hospital. Dr. Bal
has served as the Medical Director of St. Claire's Home
for Children, a residential treatment center for HIV,
in Neptune, New Jersey since 1997. Dr. Bal's particular
areas of interest include Hepatitis C, HIV, Lyme Disease,
and infection in immunocompromised children. |

Gail Burack, Ph.D.
Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Dr.
Burack, our Program Psychologist has been with the division
serving the clients of the Robert Wood Johnson AIDS Program
since January of 2002. Dr. Burack coordinates the mental
health/social services for the program. She also
supervises the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
rotation with the program. She coordinates and facilitates
support groups for children and youth with HIV and also
provides individual mental health services to patients.
She has been responsible for the implementation of a developmentally
based pill swallowing program which has been highly effective
in helping children to take medication in pill form, thereby
improving adherence and overall health outcomes. As a
Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist,
Dr. Burack serves as a liaison with local school districts
and other agencies in order to attend to the special educational
and vocational needs of our population.

Sunanda Gaur,
M.D.
Professor of Pediatrics
Dr.
Gaur has been working with children and families with
HIV/AIDS since 1983 when the first child was diagnosed
with AIDS in central New Jersey . She has been
the Director of the Robert Wood Johnson AIDS Program in
New Brunswick since 1995, one of the largest Pediatric
HIV Programs in New Jersey. Dr. Gaur serves
as the Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the New Jersey
Statewide Family Centered HIV Care Network, a Title IV
network of seven pediatric HIV care centers, working collaboratively
to enhance the standards of HIV care statewide and collectively
providing an active voice in statewide advocacy for HIV
related issues. Since 2007 Dr. Gaur has served
as the Director of the Pediatric Clinical Research Center
at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the only dedicated
facility for pediatric clinical research in New Jersey.
Dr. Gaur also serves as the co-director of the South Asian
Total Health Initiative (SATHI), a research, outreach
and education initiative dedicated to improving the health
of South Asians living in the United States. Her
interests include HIV/AIDS, international health, tuberculosis,
and community outreach.

Clemant A. Maccia, M.D.
Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Maccia's area of expertise includes the treatment
of food allergy and asthma. Over the years he has been
interested and involved in issues surrounding occupational
asthma and the development of allergy from small molecular
weight chemicals. The mechanisms and development of allergies
at all ages intrigues Dr. Maccia. He is committed to treatment
advances in allergies of Anti-IgE and beyond.

Amisha Malhotra, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Dr.
Malhotra is actively involved in multiple committees and
research initiatives. Her interests include virology-
particularly enteroviruses, MRSA infections, pediatric
immunizations, pediatric HIV and international travel.
She is actively involved in resident and student
medical education and is the Division Director of Medical
Education. Dr. Malhotra is actively involved in the community
and enjoys participating in Women in Medicine/Science
forums for high school and college students. As
an advocate for children's literacy, Dr. Malhotra is director
of the Pediatric AIDS Reach Out and Read Program.
Also, with a vivid interest in international health, Dr.
Malhotra has organized and participates in medical missions
to Kenya , Botswana and India with a particular focus
on pediatric health care.

Roseann Marone,
BSN, RN, MPH
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics

Roseann Marone is committed to maternal-child
health policy issues, program planning, family-centered
HIV care, pediatric chronic illness and public health/
community health and community partnerships. She Co-Chair
of the Ryan White Part A TGA Priorities Committee, and
serves on the Ryan White Part A Planning Council's Comprehensive
Care Needs Assessment Committee. Particular areas of interest
include perinatal HIV, HIV infection/AIDS, child development,
family health education, and life-skills curriculum for
youth. |
