SATHI ProgramThe South Asian Total Healthcare Initiative (SATHI), a program of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (UMDNJ-RWJMS) Department of Pediatrics, is a comprehensive, multifaceted initiative to improve the delivery of culturally competent healthcare and information about total health for the South Asian community and the education, engagement and empowerment of the community to improve health outcomes. SATHI's mission is to:
Drs. Sunanda Gaur and Naveen Mehrotra serve as Co-Directors of the South Asian Total Health Initiative (SATHI). This program has been developed in collaboration with Dr. Robert C. Like from the Center for Healthy Families and Cultural Diversity in the Department of Family Medicine at UMDNJ and other interested individuals from the South Asian community in New Jersey. The other founding members of SATHI are Dr. Poonam Alaigh, Upendra Chivukula, and Dr. Geetha Gavai.
