

Founded as a component of Rutgers University in 1966, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School currently has more than 400 medical students enrolled in its four years, and serves as the parent school for more than 300 residents pursuing their graduate medical and surgical education in various specialties.
The basic science campus is situated in suburban Piscataway, and the clinical campus is located in nearby New Brunswick, adjacent to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is the core New Brunswick based teaching hospital for the medical school.
