The Department of Radiology of Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School is comprised of the Clinical Radiology Departments
of the Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) University Hospital, and its affiliate,
the Saint Peter's University Hospital. Robert Wood Johnson Hospital
is a 578-bed tertiary care facility, a level one trauma center,
and the primary teaching hospital of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical
School. Saint Peter's University Hospital is a 422-bed academic
health center located six city blocks from the RWJ University Hospital.
The Radiology Department consists of 49 Board
Certified Radiologists providing expertise in all subspecialties
of Diagnostic Radiology. The Department consists of the Divisions
of General Diagnostic Radiology, Vascular and Interventional Radiology,
Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiology Research. The Division
of General Diagnostic Radiology is further subdivided into the sections
of Pediatric Radiology, Chest, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary,
Musculoskeletal imaging and Mammography. Plain Radiography,
CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Nuclear and PET imaging are the primary modalities
in use in our department. Each radiologist practices primarily
in his or her subspecialty.
The Radiology Department of the Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital performs approximately 120,000 Diagnostic Radiology
examinations per year while the Radiology Department at the St.
Peter's Medical Center performs approximately 100,000 examinations
per year.
There is a fully integrated PACS system at both
teaching hospitals. Robert Wood Johnson Hospital has recently
been named one of the "Top Ten Connected Healthcare Facilities" by Health Imaging and IT Magazine in September 2005.
