Response to Therapy

Response to cancer therapy is assessed based on changes in tumor size and the extent of spread of the disease. The size of any given tumor is described by its largest diameter which is usually measured in a subjective manner. We have developed methodology that reduces the subjectivity in the measurement of tumor size from contrast-enhanced computed tomography. Size measurements are based on image segmentation using the Fuzzy C-Means algorithm (Figure 1).
