Department Equipment
In the Department of
Radiation Oncology, there are totally three external beam treatment
machines, one CT simulator, one Acuity simulator, one high dose
rate (HDR) afterloader, six Eclipse treatment planing workstations,
one TomoTherapy planning workstation, twelve SomaVision workstations,
one PET/CT workstation and two Radionics radiosurgery treatment
planning workstations.
External
Beam Treatment Machines
- Two
Varian 21EX Linear Accelerators: both of the machines are equipped
with 120-leaves Millennium Multileaf Collimator (MLC) and on-board-imagers
(OBI). Both of them can be used to conduct IMRT and IGRT, including
cone-beam CT (CBCT), gated radiotherapy and radiosurgery.
- One TomoTherapy High Art System: this
system is unique in its combination of CT imaging technology and
precise radiation delivery in one physical and allows more accurately
target tumors and deliver a higher dose of radiation while minimizing
side effects and treatment time.
Simulators
- One Philips AcQsim CT simulator: 3D CT
images can be acquired for treatment planning.
- One Varian
Acuity CBCT simulator: 3D CBCT images and planar images can be
acquired for both brachytherapy and external beam treatment planning
and treatment verification.
Brachytherapy
Systems
- One Varian VariSource HDR afterloader unit:
deliver high dose rate dose to certain types of tumors and spare
surrounding normal tissues.
- LDR applicators: deliver continuous low dose rate dose to certain
types of tumors and spare surrounding normal tissues.
Treatment Planning Systems
- Six
Varian Eclipse treatment planning workstations: capable of IMRT,
3D conformal and brachytherapy plannings.
- One TomoTherapy planning workstation: capable
of IMRT planning for Tomo treatment.
- Twelve
Somavision plan evaluation workstations
- Two
Radionics radiosurgery treatment planning workstations.
- One PET/CT workstation.
