What is Ovid? Click on the puzzle piece to return to Puzzled by Ovid. Ovid is a powerful web-based commercial software that was developed to search bibliographic and full-text databases. The University Libraries makes Ovid available to UMDNJ library patrons so that any database that the Libraries subscribe to can be searched using the same search engine. Ovid is not a synonym for MEDLINE but simply one way to search the MEDLINE database. UMDNJ library patrons may search Ovid from any computer on the UMDNJ network, i.e., computers with a UMDNJ IP address. To search from a non-UMDNJ computer, you must configure your web browser to use a proxy service that will allow your computer to appear as if it is on the UMDNJ network.
