COMMITTEES Advisory Board The Advisory Board provides oversight and guidance to the SCNJ in meeting the goals and objectives of the Center. Members may assist the SCNJ by collecting and reviewing educational materials, protocols and guidelines, providing guidance and technical assistance in the member's area of expertise, and assisting in the dissemination of materials to their perspective organizations. Education Committee One goal of the SIDS Center of New Jersey (SCNJ) is to provide the community with SIDS awareness and risk reduction educational programs. The education committee meets biannually and targets programs to specific groups. Since the inception of the Center in 1988, educational programs have been provided to physicians, nurses, childcare providers, social workers, clergy, law enforcement, emergency medical personnel and the general public. The committee members represent a variety of professions with a common dedication to reduce the incidence of SIDS. Case Management Committee The Case Management Committee provides the Center's bereavement professionals with a forum to review services offered by the Center and evaluate whether the needs of the families, child care providers and community are being addressed. New Jersey Autopsy Protocol Committee In response to the needs of New Jersey bereaved families, public law N.J.S.A. 52:17B-88 was established concerning autopsies in suspected cases of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden and Unexplained Deaths in Childhood (SUDC). Part of this law mandated the formation of a Sudden Child Death Autopsy Protocol Committee. Out of this committee, three subcommittees were established: 1) Autopsy Protocol Committee, 2) Death Scene Investigation Committee and 3) Research Committee. The SIDS Center of New Jersey plays an integral role in these committees. If you have any suggestions for any of the committees please contact the Center at (800) 545-7437. |
