LAB POSITIONS

Postdoctoral/Research Positions:

Up to two newly created postdoctoral positions are immediately available in a neurobiology laboratory in Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology on Rutgers/UMDNJ Piscataway campus in New Jersey. We are looking for talented and motivated individuals to participate in one or more of the listed research projects that aim to understand the cellular mechanisms underlying the wiring of neuronal circuitry.

  1. Regulation of neuronal migration by second messengers;
  2. Signal transduction in axon guidance;
  3. Cytoskeletal mechanisms underlying growth cone steering;
  4. Axonal growth and regeneration.

Recent Ph.D. in Neurobiology or Cell Biology or related fields is required. Experience with at least one of the following skills is required: primary CNS neuronal cultures, high-resolution digital imaging, single cell microinjection, or molecular biology. Funding is provided by NIH and NSF for 2-3 years.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is part of New Jersey State University formerly known as the Rutgers Medical School. It is now a part of The State Health University UMDNJ. The combined campuses of Rutgers and UMDNJ located in New Brunswick/Piscataway in central New Jersey provide a highly collaborative research community. Notably this Rutgers/UMDNJ community has been voted No. 1 as "Best places for postdocs" according to a recent survey by The Scientist. The surrounding area is diverse in character and offers numerous cultural and recreational activities. Princeton and Princeton University are only 17 miles away. New York and Philadelphia are also within an easy commute. Furthermore, the Atlantic seashore and Pocono Mountains are within an hour's drive.

If interested, please send curriculum vitae and names of three references to:  Dr. James Zheng, Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, 675 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ 08854.

Other Research Position:

A research position is available for a talented individual with experience in neuronal culture from Central Nervous System (CNS). We are specifically looking for an individual with experience in low-density hippocampal cultures and cerebellar granule cultures. Research foucses on various aspects of neuronal migration and differentiation. Please contact us for more information and application.

UMNDJ is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
