Left Ventricular Systolic Function

It is possible to assess left ventricular early systolic contractility by using the acceleration of the mitral insufficiency Doppler signal to determine rate of pressure rise. The time it takes for the mitral insufficiency jet to accelerate from one to three meters per second is also the time it takes to increase the left ventricular systolic pressure by 32 mm Hg.
